Geocaching: Mixing Tech and Curriculum
Presentation Site
Geocaching is a worldwide recreational activity enjoyed by GPS users. It involves a GPS user hiding a "cache" and posting the exact coordinates so other GPS users can come on a "scavenger hunt" to find it. There are caches of all kinds for all ages and are usually placed in interesting locations in your area that you may not know about.
The concept of the game can be easily adapted as an engaging way to have students discover concepts and information in any curriculum. With a little work you’ve integrated technology, a little exercise, and whatever topic you want to explore, giving multiple ways to learn subject matter.
Use a ‘Multi-Stage Cache’ to test the comprehension of your students from the story your class just read; or perhaps you could have your students cooperatively solve a math puzzle to find the hidden container; or even peruse the ‘EarthCaches’ on Geocaching.com - caches from around the world based on various geology and earth sciences.

Re'Form' your Form, with Flubaroo
Presentation Site
Have you heard about education reform? Have you heard about form re“form”? In this presentation, you will learn about the later. NOT the ladder you climb, but second question you read.

Throughout this one-hour interactive presentation, participants will learn how to re“form” their Google Forms using a tool called Flubaroo.

Google Forms are a very valuable tool in education. Many School Districts are currently getting on the Google bandwagon by creating accounts for their students and educators, which makes using Google Forms a practical decision. This simple tool can be in a plethora of ways.

Educators can create quizzes using Google Forms. After the students have taken the quiz, Forms can be quickly graded using the add-on Flubaroo. Flubaroo takes about 3 minutes to set up, which saves hours of grading. Flubaroo averages the question results, gives a score and average per student, and will even email the results.

Google Forms are also a great way to interact, communicate, and receive feedback from others. Educators can create forms, email them out, and review the responses. Principals, coaches, and teachers can use Google Forms to collect data from staff members, teachers, parents, and students.

Join us for a fun-filled hour of interactive hands-on learning. Come and see how Google Forms can re“form” your life!

Documenting Behavior Management Effectively
Presentation Site
Learn how to utilize excel for a daily behavior-tracking system that will change the way you do behavior management. This tracker is used to keep track of students’ daily behavior data. Whether it’s a clip chart, card-pull chart, or any other color-coded behavior-tracking system, this file has everything you need to track classroom behavior with ease! Each day you take approximately three minutes to write the first letter of the color that the child ended on that day. At the end of the month you will have a printout of each of your students’ behaviors for that month that they can take home for to show their parents (it also includes an option for parents to sign and return the note.) The spreadsheet will also give you a summary with percentages, for the whole year, which is helpful for students with behavior IEP's or in need of data-based behavior tracking. This class will primarily focus on how to use a pre-designed layout; however, you will also be able to learn ways to create a behavior track that will work best for you and your class!
