Re'Form' your Form, with Flubaroo
Presentation Site
Have you heard about education reform? Have you heard about form re“form”? In this presentation, you will learn about the later. NOT the ladder you climb, but second question you read.

Throughout this one-hour interactive presentation, participants will learn how to re“form” their Google Forms using a tool called Flubaroo.

Google Forms are a very valuable tool in education. Many School Districts are currently getting on the Google bandwagon by creating accounts for their students and educators, which makes using Google Forms a practical decision. This simple tool can be in a plethora of ways.

Educators can create quizzes using Google Forms. After the students have taken the quiz, Forms can be quickly graded using the add-on Flubaroo. Flubaroo takes about 3 minutes to set up, which saves hours of grading. Flubaroo averages the question results, gives a score and average per student, and will even email the results.

Google Forms are also a great way to interact, communicate, and receive feedback from others. Educators can create forms, email them out, and review the responses. Principals, coaches, and teachers can use Google Forms to collect data from staff members, teachers, parents, and students.

Join us for a fun-filled hour of interactive hands-on learning. Come and see how Google Forms can re“form” your life!

You Can be the Teacher AND the Class Clown!
There is such a thing as having a well-managed class, which can progress academically, AND be fun! Learn how to “juggle” these important aspects of a successful classroom with ideas, tips, and stories from former Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus clown turned educator, Valerie Hall (aka Daisy the Clown).
By incorporating several classroom management programs including CHAMPS, classroom cheers, raps, songs, unique motivators, and humor, Valerie Hall has made her classrooms blossom into a welcoming environment that students love to go to.
With Valerie’s techniques, she has been able to increase academic scores, while decreasing referrals at Title One schools, see a growth rate of 80% in parent participation at those same Title One schools, and decrease negative behaviors in her current ABS (Academic Behavior Support) Classroom by 60% since the beginning of the school year through January.
Be prepared to participate in this fun professional development opportunity, by learning and shouting cheers, dancing, singing, and maybe even by donning a clown nose.

Is ADDIE My Granddaughter or an Instructional Design Solution?
Presentation Site
Some of you won’t remember the old days. Back then many teachers, who had been teaching for a time, had their curricula in their heads, the worksheets for the year run off and organized in folders in their file cabinets and life was good. They walked in their classrooms in the morning, told the kids to open their books to page 125 and do the worksheet they pulled from their very organized file cabinets.

Well, the old days are over. We even have a relatively new field of specialization in Education called Instructional Design. So, let’s think about that for a minute. At the core of all instruction is design. Designing relevant instruction is key to successful training and/or educational outcomes. While “lesson planning” may be in the DNA of most teachers, do they really understand Instructional Design? Are all teachers Instructional Designers? Are all Instructional Designers teachers? What exactly is the process? And who is ADDIE anyway?

This session will look at the steps of effective and efficient instructional design. The steps of the process will be introduced with specific details that will assist with the design of instruction. And, you will find out who ADDIE is.

Transforming Today’s Learning Environment through BYOD and Mobile Video Applications
Video-based learning increases retention by 400% according to the Visual Teaching Alliance.

According to Gartner, mobile video software client users grew 340% between 2010 and 2012. It is expected that mobile video users will grow from 429 million to 2.4B in 2016. How are we as educators leveraging this phenomenon?

As the use of live interactive video increases in education - with students and teachers/administrators all connecting - we are increasingly seeing students and teachers issuing devices or promoting use of student own technology devices. In fact, some say that the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) movement is revolutionizing how educators teach and students learn. How are we, as educators, capitalizing on student or faculty owned mobile devices to radically change the learning environment?

In this interactive session, the presenters will provide an overview of desktop and mobile video applications and how they are being used in the collaborative classroom:
• Students become engaged in a “hate to miss” learning environment where they use various devices and software to collaborate, work on projects, participate in problem-based learning whether physically on campus, at a remote site or while traveling.
• Faculty meet face-to-face remotely with one or many pulling in subject matter experts from content providers or businesses. Learn how we can leverage desktop or mobile devices while incorporating other tools in their arsenals such as interactive whiteboards.
• Learn about different education institutions as they share best practices in flexible distance learning and collaboration.

Grant Funding and Best Practices in Video-Enabled Learning Spaces
Students and, yes, even faculty expect sophisticated communications anytime, anywhere. They use visual collaboration tools in- and outside of the classroom in new and exciting ways. Indeed, how we teach and how students learn is being transformed. This session focuses on noteworthy technology trends and cool new capabilities. The potential impact of those trends will suggest what may become the next generation of best practices in our teaching. All of this, in turn, helps to suggest our technology needs and, from that, our goals. Ultimately, deployment will depend on dollars – lots of them! – so we will highlight potential grant programs and funding sources that are aimed at technology opportunities.
Come ready to listen and share as participants engage in an interactive and open discussion in key areas:
• Global trends – Explore how the latest collaboration innovations apply to learning spaces.
• Best practices – Learn how others are harnessing technology in their teaching and learning.
• Impediments – Share your challenges and explore possible solutions with us.
• The “How-To’s” of alternative funding
• Relevant grant programs
• Tips and tricks for finding and securing grant funding

Limited Capacity seats available

Presentation Site
We've been hearing about the Flipped Classroom for a while now, but it seems overwhelming, and there are definitely some challenges. Teaching flipped computer technology classes for over a year has taught me a thing or two about what works and what doesn't when using this new pedagogical model. In this session, I will share my experiences flipping classes at the high school and college levels. Tips will include how to structure resources, how to introduce the model to students and use it with them on a daily basis, and what you do during class time. I will also focus on answering your questions about how to make this model work for you. Time permitting, we can also explore some of the tools that can be used to flip your class.
