5 Minutes of Creativity
You can't read a document about education and learning without seeing the word creativity. We all know how important creativity is in the 21st century and yet with all the other demands, it can often be a challenge to make it a regular part of the day. Creativity is like a muscle, it needs to be practiced and work on daily. This session will showcase a few simple ideas that can be embedded into any classroom with 5 minutes and a bit of technology.

Language Arts with Symbaloo
Presentation Site
Make a collection of language arts resources and tools. Use Symbaloo to send students to websites. A click is better than typing a huge URL correctly. Picture links are better than a list of URLS. Instant updating is better than revising and resending. Embedding in the website you already have is better than starting over. My favorite dozen Language Arts iPad apps.

I've been teaching with technology for most of my teaching career. Right now I have a cart of iPads that I use for my 7-8 grade writing classes. My goal is to create a paperless/PC-less classroom using only iPads and apps that fit my students.

UEN's NROC Resources for Teachers
The USOE has purchased rights to NROC for all Utah teachers. This session introduces what NROC resources are available to Utah teachers and students, the playlist and other functions of HippoCampus and explores possibilities for using NROC content in your classroom. As a Utah teacher you have access to over 4,000 learning objects from screened collections at HippoCampus site, an advertisement-free site. Instructional materials will be mapped to the Utah State Standards for Mathematics. Another benefit is the ability to import modules and courses into Canvas.
