With Bring You Own Device (BYOD) initiatives around almost every corner, this cautionary tale invites educators and their administrators to think carefully about the desired outcomes and possible risks before "Jumping In" to the deep end of BYOD in their schools.

This presentation will extend the "Six Basic Apps" ideas introduced at the Canyon School District TEDx event by inviting participants to join a dialog about apps that can enhance the average classroom without needing internet access/bandwidth to do so.

The Willow Springs Elementary 4th and 5th grade students are creating a weekly news program entirely created with iPads. In this session you will learn how they have set up their student program, assigned students specific jobs and roles, then capture video and produce their show using the iPads, iMovie, Green Screens, and YouTube.

Over the past 4 years North Davis Junior High has transformed itself from one of the lowest performing Junior Highs in Davis School District to one of the highest. Come and learn how a combination of pedagogical changes has prepared North Davis Students for increased achievement and prepared teachers for a one to one initiative with iPads.

While there is a great deal of research that must done to understand the impact of technology on young children, the family, and the classroom there are some developmental frameworks, position statements, and literature reviews that explore preschool children engaging with digital media and the impacts on early childhood pedagogy. Come learn how we can embrace media and the digital world to best engage and educate today's early learner.

By incorporating several classroom management programs including CHAMPS, classroom cheers, raps, songs, unique motivators, and humor, Valerie Hall has made her classrooms blossom into a welcoming environment that students love to go to.
With Valerie’s techniques, she has been able to increase academic scores, while decreasing referrals at Title One schools, see a growth rate of 80% in parent participation at those same Title One schools, and decrease negative behaviors in her current ABS (Academic Behavior Support) Classroom by 60% since the beginning of the school year through January.
