The Flipped Classroom: Why I Love It, How I Do It
The flipped classroom changes the classroom from a teacher centered, lecture driven classroom to a discussion driven, work session with individual student needs being the focus. Lessons then become a springboard to deeper discussion, investigations, and activities. Come see how I use it in my classroom and why my team and our students love it.

Microsoft Certified Educator
Presentation Site
The Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification validates that educators have the global educator technology literacy competencies needed to provide a rich, custom learning experience for students. Through a single exam, MCE demonstrates that educators have achieved technology literacy competency in six content areas, mapped to the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers, Technology Literacy:
•Education policy
•Curriculum and assessment
•Pedagogy
•ICT/technology tools
•Organization and administration
•Professional development
MCE certification is ideal for educators-in-training, faculty of teacher training colleges, and in-service educators. Microsoft offers a comprehensive e-learning curriculum, Teaching with Technology, to help educators prepare for this rigorous exam.
Free online training and test vouchers are available to teachers in Utah.

Is ADDIE My Granddaughter or an Instructional Design Solution?
Presentation Site
Some of you won’t remember the old days. Back then many teachers, who had been teaching for a time, had their curricula in their heads, the worksheets for the year run off and organized in folders in their file cabinets and life was good. They walked in their classrooms in the morning, told the kids to open their books to page 125 and do the worksheet they pulled from their very organized file cabinets.

Well, the old days are over. We even have a relatively new field of specialization in Education called Instructional Design. So, let’s think about that for a minute. At the core of all instruction is design. Designing relevant instruction is key to successful training and/or educational outcomes. While “lesson planning” may be in the DNA of most teachers, do they really understand Instructional Design? Are all teachers Instructional Designers? Are all Instructional Designers teachers? What exactly is the process? And who is ADDIE anyway?

This session will look at the steps of effective and efficient instructional design. The steps of the process will be introduced with specific details that will assist with the design of instruction. And, you will find out who ADDIE is.
